🧠 Real data, real decisions — that’s been the goal behind building this custom dashboard for my business: a Strength & Conditioning center with over 120 loyal clients and nearly five years of steady growth. But as my business scales, intuition isn’t enough. I needed visibility. I needed clarity. I needed data.
This project was born out of a genuine commercial need: understanding when and how clients pay, identifying behavioral patterns over time, and making smarter, data-driven decisions to improve cash flow and client retention. It's also a hands-on application of the concepts I learned through the Google Cloud Data Analytics Certification, turning theory into real business impact.
🎯 Project Purpose: Real Data, Real Decisions
The main objective of this dashboard was to answer business-critical questions around:
📆 Client Activity
Monthly active clients
New vs. lost clients each month
Average training frequency (days per week)
Average payment amount per client
🚻 Gender-Based Behavior
Male/female client distribution
Differences in payment amounts and attendance by gender
Gender trends in prepayments or higher visit frequency
⏰ Payment Timing & Patterns
Revenue collected in early periods of the month (1–5, 6–10), critical for covering taxes, salaries, and operational expenses
Late payments toward the end of the month
📈 Financial Performance
Total monthly revenue
Month-over-month growth rate
Answering these questions would allow me to:
✔ Plan expenses and salaries with greater precision
✔ Adjust pricing and late-fee strategies
✔ Personalize training offerings by client behavior
✔ Understand seasonal and gender-based trends
🛠️ Technologies & Workflow (100% Cloud-Based)
✅ Google Sheets – My primary data source, where I track monthly client payments and attendance.
✅ Looker Studio – To visualize and explore data dynamically.
✅ Grok AI – Used to normalize currencies and enrich the dataset.
✅ Google Cloud Certification Concepts – Including data lifecycle, modeling, and governance best practices.
This workflow reflects a cloud-native business intelligence approach — secure, scalable, and accessible anywhere.
🧱 Step-by-Step Process
Data Cleaning & Preparation
Organized monthly payments into a unified format
Standardized payment dates and converted values to USD
Engineered fields like gender, visit frequency, and payment timing buckets
Dashboard Design & Visualization Strategy
Organized into two key pages:
1️⃣ Operational Dashboard
Scorecards: Total Revenue, Average Payment, Active Clients (with MoM comparisons)
Line Chart: Daily revenue trends by month
Bar Chart: Revenue by 5-day intervals (e.g. Days 1–5, 6–10, etc.)
2️⃣ Client Insights Dashboard
Donut Chart: Gender distribution
Column Chart: Visit frequency by gender
Line Chart: Gender-based payment timing
Table: Top 5 clients by attendance

Each chart was selected not for its complexity, but for its clarity and usability — allowing me to answer real business questions at a glance.
🔍 Key Findings from the Data
Analyzing data from January through March surfaced powerful insights:
Revenue grew 30% over the quarter, fueled by a price update in March — with zero client churn.
A newly introduced $5 late payment fee (after Day 10) led to a behavioral shift: in March, 51% of payments arrived between Days 6–10, compared to just 35% in January.
Clients are training more often — weekly visits rose from 2.7 to 2.9 per client, and 4x/week members increased to 25%.
Women consistently represent 56% of the client base and total revenue. Their consistent presence is a key growth driver.
💡 Data-Driven Strategies Moving Forward
Backed by this data, I’m now implementing new initiatives to boost engagement and operational efficiency:
👩💻 Engage Women Through Targeted Content. I’ll develop tailored content (e.g. Instagram stories on glute training, recovery tips, and nutrition) to boost value for our most loyal segment. I’m also exploring new female-focused equipment upgrades to enhance the training experience.
⏳ Reward Early PaymentsTo improve cash flow, I’ll pilot a new incentive: free protein bars for payments made in Days 1–5. I’ll monitor this shift in Looker Studio to validate its impact.
💸 Maintain the $5 Late Fee Confirmed via data, this penalty has proven effective in shifting payment behavior — and it’s here to stay.
☁️ Bringing Google Cloud Skills into Real Business Practice
This project is a real-world application of what I’ve learned through the Google Cloud Data Analytics Certification — not just theory, but practice. From data ingestion, cloud storage, and visualization to data governance and audience-based design, this experience has helped me grow both as a data analyst and a business owner.
🧠 At its core, this dashboard isn’t just a visualization. It’s a decision-making engine.
It’s about understanding your customers, optimizing your operations, and building a business that doesn’t just grow — but grows smart.
🙌This project meant a lot to me — not just as a business owner, but as someone committed to growing in data analytics every day.
